I looked in the factory manual and the jets and pilots seem to be larger and needle smaller on the 87 era carbs vs the 90's. I think you would be OK at least trying out the stock jets with just the idle mixture screw richer. On some 87 era years and carb models the needle actually was adjustable and on the newer style removing the white needle spacer allows the needle to raise up further out of the jet, enrichening the cruise mixture. My 96 is running a big diameter header and HD muffler and is fine with a larger idle jet and mixture screw turned richer. Later, Max
